4/23/13 repost adds track 10 Nanfoule (belated thanks to Nauma).The Balladins were with Bembeya Jazz the most sophisticated of Guinea's golden age Authenticité bands, their Syliphone 45s holding much of their absolute best work. The quality and variety of these tracks is stunning, as Sakhodougou - Samba - Kognö Koura show. Whether languid or swinging, you can pretty much count on quivering Latin horns as well as electric guitars infusing local traditions with shards of surf and psychedelia. This collection is nearly complete, with Moi Ça Ma Fout b-side Vacillon the only holdout. If you happen to have it and are willing to share, please let me know. Bon appétit.
